About the company

Our client is a long-standing American manufacturer of conveyors, screening, and material-handling equipment for the aggregates, mining, and construction markets. Over 60 years of trading, built on rugged design and strong dealer partnerships.

The business runs its own large-scale engineering and fabrication operation and is investing hard in its next phase of growth.

Why this role

•Highly competitive package with a direct line to the President and a seat on senior leadership

•Full ownership of both Product and Manufacturing Engineering, not a slice of one

•A clear mandate to build standards, product platforms and an R&D function from the ground up

•A business in active growth, investing in engineering rather than cutting it

•Real authority to make the standardisation versus customisation calls and back them

Key Responsibilities:

You run engineering today inside someone else's system. Here you build the system.

You take an established team and turn it into a scalable function.

You make engineering drive production rather than hold it up.

You report to the President and sit on the senior leadership team from day one.

You lead Product Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering as one connected system.

You set standards, design libraries, and enforce configuration discipline to reduce custom work and speed up releases.

You bring DFM and DFMA into every design so production runs clean.

You own engineering capacity planning and the long-term R&D roadmap across automation, telematics and predictive maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have:

•10 to 15+ years of engineering leadership in a manufacturing environment

•Proven leadership of both Product/Design Engineering and Manufacturing or Production Engineering

•Track record of improving engineering throughput and driving product standardisation

•Experience building scalable engineering systems, processes and metrics

•Background in heavy equipment, aggregates, construction equipment or industrial manufacturing

•Working knowledge of fabrication, welding and assembly-based production

•Based in or willing to relocate to Vermillion, South Dakota, with travel as needed
