Due to continued growth and investment in their Iowa operation, the company is looking to appoint an experienced Service Manager to strengthen and lead the branch service function.

This is a key leadership role within the dealership. You will be responsible for driving service performance, supporting customers across the territory, and building a strong, accountable service team.

Product experience is desirable but not essential, as full support and structured onboarding will be provided. You must be based within commutable distance to the Des Moines location. You will have at least 4 years of experience in a technical or service leadership role in heavy construction capital equipment.

The ideal candidate will take a hands-on approach to leading the department. This is not a desk-only position. You will be visible on the shop floor, support technicians when required, and take ownership of service standards, safety, and profitability.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to write routine reports and professional correspondence
  • Clear and confident communication with employees, customers and senior leadership
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate and hold a team accountable
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal

This opportunity suits a driven service leader who wants autonomy, responsibility, and the ability to shape a growing Iowa operation within a stable, respected dealership environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, develop and lead a service department consisting of administrative staff and field or shop-based technicians
  • Work closely with parts and equipment sales teams to ensure joined-up branch performance
  • Structure the department to create a productive, safe and accountable working environment
  • Oversee daily service operations, workshop scheduling and field service coordination
  • Support customers across sales and rental fleets to maximise equipment uptime
  • Manage technician recruitment, onboarding and performance development
  • Drive service revenue, labour recovery rates and overall departmental profitability
  • Implement and manage service systems, reporting processes and performance KPIs
  • Support warranty processes and vendor communication
  • Maintain strong health and safety standards across the branch

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven service leadership experience within heavy construction, material processing, rental, or capital equipment environments
  • Hands-on manager comfortable leading from the shop floor and supporting technicians and daily service operations
  • Strong understanding of workshop scheduling, field service coordination, and equipment uptime across customer fleets
  • Commercially aware, with the ability to drive service performance, labour efficiency, and departmental profitability
  • Effective team builder and communicator, experienced in developing technicians and maintaining high safety standards
