About the Company

We’re working with a fast-growing construction technology business that is bringing automation, GPS machine control, and robotic retrofit technology into the heavy equipment world.

Their systems are installed onto machines like excavators, pile drivers, and other construction equipment, helping contractors improve accuracy, productivity, and how work gets done on site.

The business is growing quickly and needs more field-based technical people to support live projects across the U.S.

Role Overview

You’ll be out on customer job sites installing technology onto construction equipment, training operators on how to use it, and then staying close to the machine once it goes live to make sure everything is working properly.

The role is built around three main areas:

Install. Train. Support.

This is not a desk-based GIS or survey role. It is field-based, hands-on, travel-heavy, and right at the point where GPS, machine control, construction equipment, and automation all come together.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Trimble, Leica, Topcon, or similar GPS / machine control systems
  • Experience installing or calibrating GPS machine control systems on heavy equipment
  • Survey, site layout, or construction staking experience
  • Familiarity with site localisations and local coordinate systems
  • Agriculture GPS / precision ag technology experience
  • Background with heavy equipment dealers, machine control dealers, or survey equipment providers
  • Military, aviation, HVAC, welding, or other mechanically technical field backgrounds may also fit well

Compensation & Setup

  • Typical target range: $100,000 – $125,000 base salary
  • Full company benefits - Fully funded Medical, Dental & Vision
  • Front Loaded 10 Days PTO, 13 Paid Holidays
  • Travel across the U.S.
  • Field-based setup with customer site work, remote support, and technical troubleshooting

Why It’s Worth a Look

  • This is a good fit if you like being out in the field, solving problems in real time, and working with technology that is changing how construction equipment is used.
  • It is not a soft travel role. The travel is heavy, the pace is fast, and customers will expect answers when systems are live on site.
  • If you are practical, technically curious, strong with customers, and interested in machine control, GPS, automation, and heavy equipment, this is a chance to join a business that is still being built - not just step into a fixed corporate structure.
  • You’ll get exposure to modern construction automation, work directly with the people building the product, and be part of a team that is genuinely shaping how this technology is rolled out in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Travel to customer job sites across the U.S.
  • Support installation of the company's machine control and automation technology onto heavy equipment
  • Set up, calibrate, and support GPS machine control systems
  • Carry out site localisations, calibrations, diagnostics, and base/rover setup where needed
  • Work alongside mechanical field teams during installs and troubleshooting
  • Train operators and site teams on how to use the technology properly
  • Stay on-site after installation to monitor performance and answer customer questions
  • Troubleshoot GPS, hardware, software, communication, and sensor-related issues in the field
  • Work with operators, project managers, superintendents, site surveyors, and engineers
  • Keep clear records of installs, support visits, troubleshooting, customer interactions, and training
  • Help keep the technology running when customers are depending on it live on site

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in machine control, GPS, surveying, construction technology, or field-based technical support
  • Comfortable working outdoors and around heavy equipment
  • Mechanically practical - you know how to use tools and figure things out in the field
  • Able to communicate well with customers, especially when something is not working and pressure is high
  • Calm enough to troubleshoot problems without bluffing or overpromising
  • Happy with a role that involves serious travel across the U.S.
  • Comfortable being on site for long stretches when required
  • Able to work independently, but also alongside mechanical, engineering, service, and customer teams
  • Willing to learn new technology
  • Legally authorised to work in the U.S.
  • Able to pass required background checks
